Much required fuel of food among run of the mill places !
Rating – 4/5
Food Fuel is a recent addition to the food scene in Wadgaon Sheri where a sizable population of young bachelors is always on the look out for “Ghar ka Khaana” within a reasonable price point and this one IMHO definitely fits the bill.
Their offerings are a bit different as they come with a Sindhi touch (though they have other items on the menu as well without the Sindhi twist, so everything for everyone) and having been friends with quite a few Sindhi friends back home in Agra and devoid of any Sindhi food in Pune I was all excited. I got contacted by the Food Fuel Owner Mr.Mohit for a food tasting opportunity through home delivery and I readily agreed.
They are primarily a food delivery outlet and don’t have any dine-in facility, they deliver for free in the areas of Mundhwa, Keshavnagar, Viman Nagar, Wadgaon Sheri, Kalyani Nagar, Koregaon Park, Boat Club Road and Bund Garden. For any other adjoining places in addition to the above ones are delivered with minimum quantity of three boxes.
Delivery time & Value for Money – I rate them 4.5/5 on this parameter – Delivery to my place was pretty quick (in less than 30 minutes) and the two food boxes came with a nice presentation with no spilling of food items whatsoever. The food wasn’t piping hot but wasn’t cold either and I was able to eat it without having the need to rewarm the items. On the VFM quotient the “Pakwaan Box” comes at 99 bucks which is a complete meal for one person with a moderate diet, don’t think you can ask anything more at this price point so definitely value for money stuff.
The Food – I rate them a 3.5/5 on this parameter – There’s still room for me to review the food rating as I haven’t quite tasted the Non Vegetarian items but the stuff I tasted among the vegetarian ones was fair enough. They have all these different type of boxes that come with pre-selected options of some popular Sindhi delicacies, different stuffed Parantha combos, Egg and Chicken specific boxes so the menu is varied and you might find something or the other for your liking.
The Stuff I tasted – I had the Badshah box at my disposal with two pieces of Pakwaan (may come across as a Papad at first glance but it isn’t as it’s quite thick), a tasty chana daal, Koki (another popular Sindhi item), Yogurt (raita), pickle and a few dry fruits. The meal box was good though the Daal could have been more spicy but no real complaints to write home about.
The other box being the Paratha King box came as a combination of 4 quarters of Corn & Cheese and Methi Paratha each, accompanied by raita, fruit salad and dry fruits. The Corn & Cheese Paratha came with good stuffing however the Methi variant was probably a shade bitter than I would have preferred so that could definitely be improved upon. One of the boxes came with the usual dry fruits like cashew, almond etc, however the other pouch came with dehydrated fruits like Kiwi, Guava and couple of other flavors (small chunks), I found them pretty interesting and tasty.
The Verdict – In a nutshell I can say the place is promising and is ideal for breakfast and lunch order as they currently operate from Morning to 3.30 pm. The place offers tasty and “different” kind of food at reasonable rates and I look forward to try more items in the future.
