Not exactly a Grand Buffet but a good buffet nevertheless !

With all the not so favorable reviews of this place it wasn’t at the top of my list while looking into Buffet options for a Sunday Lunch. However due to an ongoing promotion we got a deal to try their buffet at 349 pp/all inclusive (Rs 599 otherwise) so it was an offer we couldn’t resist and gave them a visit.

An important point to note is the fact that they are located on the east court of Phoenix Market city so park/plan your visit accordingly, they’re not located in the west court where other establishments like 212 Cafe, Shizusan, Bar Bar, Star Bazaar etc are located. This part of the mall doesn’t have a lot of hustle/bustle which might work to one’s favor if relaxed eating is what you aim for, it certainly worked well for us 🙂

The Ambience & Service – They have a fairly spaced out area that makes up for a casual and relaxed setting where you can enjoy their Grand buffet. These days it has become a norm to play music to the maximum permissible decibel levels which is annoying to say the least but thankfully not here as a light score played in the background.The Buffet area was lighted up well and decorated to make for an interesting viewing and the spaced out tables meant that you could have your share of privacy as you gorge on those delicious starters.

The service was largely efficient bringing in the reinforcements on their own. On an occasion when I asked for a serving of Biryani from Kitchen as the one on Buffet had become dry they were a bit reluctant but ended up serving after a while with extra seasoning of Ghee which enhanced the preparation. On the whole I was satisfied with the service and nothing much to complain here.

The Food – Their starters are definitely their USP as I couldn’t remember the last time we went to a barbecue place and we finished every single skewer of starters we ordered. Yes it was that good – may be it was our lucky day because every preparation was exactly how it should have been. The surprising part was the Paneer Tikka (not bland at all) and the quality of Paneer as it was just melt in the mouth types.

Although each starter was good in it’s own right the ones which stood class apart were Paneer Tikka (medium spicy), Tandoori Prawns (awesome and devoid of any smell largely) and the absolute melt in the mouth and mildly spiced Fish Tikka.

The Main course was Okay but wasn’t as good as the starters though some items were good enough to have a decent meal especially after all the stuffing has already been done with those succulent starters. The Mutton biryani was decent, Paneer curry was very good and found the Dal Makhani to be of decent order as well. The Chicken and Mutton curry preparations were average in taste and definitely calls for an overhaul here as they just looked like making up the numbers in the Buffet along with other bits and pieces preparations.

The desserts were probably the weakest course and an area where they should look to improve immediately with nothing much to write home about except the Gujiya preparation which wasn’t like the traditional one and instead had an interesting filling.

Value for Money & Verdict – The meal we had was an absolute value for money experience and otherwise as well the place is priced competitively and well below the other established barbecue joints in the City. They just need to improve a bit on their Main Course and especially the desserts part and they can become a GoTo place in no time. They are definitely underrated to what they deserve and I would definitely recommend a meal here which may just surprise you, happy eating 🙂
