Good Food in Nature’s Lap !
Rating – 4/5
Located in the busy by-lanes of Koregaon Park this is one place that suddenly provides you a transformation from the usual rush of KP to a calm and serene place that comes with a lot of greenery all around.
The Ambience – Picture this – is there anything better than having some of the most delicious Lebanese & Mediterranean food on a slightly cool evening with a nice little bonfire giving you an apt company. With all the greenery around, very few places would compete to offer this kind of closer to nature experience. Overall I was pretty satisfied with the Ambience and other than food this would be one factor which will allure me to come back soon !
The Food – This was one of the more elaborate tastings (in terms of number of items) I have been to in the recent past with around 26 dishes to taste with an added middle course. I would be covering here the best of the best which I found during the sampling so that when you’re here you can go for these preps without worrying about how it is going to turn out 🙂
The Menu consisted of Mocktails, Soups, Starters, a Middle course, Mains and finally the desserts !! Despite the rather plethora of items we certainly didn’t complain as the food ranged from good to being extremely delicious. Following is a brief on some of my picks from the tasting:
Peru Pyala Mocktail – This is the one for you if you like your Mocktail to be spicy one, it was like drinking Guava with all that lovel masala ! #recommended
Carmalized fennel onion Chicken Soup – A usual chicken soup that came with a twist – a distinct and pleasant taste of fennel that went very well on a cold winter evening. #recommended
Market fresh veggie sliders – The goodness of feta cheese, crisp lettuce & spicy sauce gave these sliders a good bite and a tasty filling.
Sweet Corn & Mozzarella Fritters with Chilli Jam – Fritters consisting of Gooey Mozzarella along with a corn & jalapeno filling was fantastic to munch upon to be honest. #definitelyrecommended
Jhinga Mirch Espetada – Espatadas being a Portuguese origin dish do not mistake this one with mild flavors as this comes with a generous coating of Thecha. The prawns were perfectly marinated and grilled and this was the best starter of the evening for me but was a definitely a bit spicy but I loved it. #definitelyrecommended
Lamb Kibbeh Espetada – This being a Lamb variant comes very close to being of the texture of a Seekh Kebab. This was juicy alright and the only slight grudge I had that it would have been even more fantastic if it was a bit more tender than what it was. #recommended
Lebanese Chicken Shish Tawook Espetada – This was everything I sort of missed in the Lamb Kibbeh preparation, this was tender, juicy and simply delicious and a dish for everyone with mild flavors. It shared the honors with the Prawn preparation for being the best starter. #definitelyrecommended
Lamb Bolognaise Pizza – This was one good Mozzarella infused oven baked Pizza that had a tasty minced lamb filling to compliment the overall flavors. #recommended
Salli Chicken – This was best Mains dish of the evening and was one flavorful and slightly tangy preparation, went absolutely well with the butter naans. #highlyrecommended
Tiramisu & Orange Chocolate Fondant – These were the best two Desserts of the evening for me with the Fondant just ending up a few notches ahead than the Tiramisu which was nicely textured and had that bitter coffee taste slightly. The Chocolate fondant had a subtle orange taste to it which thankfully didn’t tamper the chocolatey taste too much while the fondant had a tasty filling of molten dark chocolate which only made matters better with the Vanilla ice cream.
The Verdict – Overall a very nice place to spend your evening with some rather varied cuisines to try on your plate. Having said that I was pretty satisfied with their Indian preparations and when you combine this with the factors of a serene ambience, efficient service and reasonable pricing – this is one place which may seem irresistible !
